Senator Jane Cordy, Leader of the Progressive Senate Group, is pleased to announce that Senator Wanda Thomas Bernard has been acclaimed as the new Liaison of the Progressive Senate Group, following an internal election process. She will assume this position effective February 1, 2023.

“Senator Bernard makes an excellent addition to our Leadership Team. She brings with her a wealth of experience and an important perspective, and I welcome her to this new role.”

She also expressed her thanks to outgoing Liaison, Senator Pat Bovey, for her work in that role. Senator Bovey will be retiring from the Senate in May.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Pat in her capacity as Liaison and I speak for all Progressive senators when I say how much we appreciate all she did. I know she has big plans for her last months in the Senate and we all look forward to seeing her accomplishments.”

Senator Pierre J. Dalphond (Deputy Leader) and Senator Brian Francis (Deputy Liaison and Caucus Chair) make up the rest of the Progressive Leadership Team.

The Progressive Senate Group is made up of like-minded individuals, inspired by the Algonquin word, “Mamidosewin,” which means meeting place and walking together. We are independent, we are inclusive, and we are always ready to welcome other independent senators who share our progressive values.
