Senator Pierre Dalphond, Leader of the Progressive Senate Group (PSG), is pleased to welcome Senator Katherine Hay to the PSG.
“Senator Hay moved from a successful career in bank management to implementing world-leading system change through innovation in the e-mental health space. The impact her work has had, particularly for women, children, and youth, is commendable. Independent members of the PSG look forward to working with her as she continues to serve Canadians,” Senator Dalphond said.
“As I look to the future and my role in the Senate of Canada, I am reflective on what has mattered the most to me in all my roles – I saw it in every one of my Senator colleagues that I met across all the affiliated groups: values-based leadership and a generosity of spirit for collaboration. With that, I also felt great alignment with the PSG and some of the most important work I have done in the past, particularly in mental health system change, equity and inclusion, diversity, and progressive innovative solutions. Therefore, I am honoured to join the Progressive Senate Group as I embark on the most important role of my life – outside of being a Mom!” said Senator Hay.
The Progressives believe in a more independent Senate, equality amongst senators, Charter values, reconciliation, diversity, and policies directed towards sustainable, inclusive, and shared prosperity in Canada. Their organizing principle is inspired by the Algonquin/Ojibwe word “Mamidosewin,” for “Meeting place” or “Walking together.”
