Senator Brian Francis, Leader, is pleased to welcome Senator Julie Miville-Dechêne to the Progressive Senate Group (PSG). Senator Miville-Dechêne is a dynamic and independent senator who has brought visibility to the institution by introducing Senate Public Bills that have had a significant impact. S-211, against modern slavery, has become law, and the senator continues to champion efforts to protect children from exposure to online pornography.
“Her experience as a journalist, Ottawa and Washington correspondent, ombudsman, chair of the Conseil du statut de la femme, and diplomat makes her an asset to the PSG. We are delighted to welcome her among us,” said Senator Francis.
“I am delighted to join the Progressive Senate Group. I look forward to collaborating more closely with esteemed colleagues, many of whom I already know and deeply respect. I wish to extend my sincere thanks to Senator Francis for his attentiveness and for the warm welcome to the PSG,” said Senator Miville-Dechêne.
The Progressives believe in a more independent Senate, equality amongst senators, Charter values, reconciliation, diversity, official languages, and policies directed towards sustainable, inclusive, and shared prosperity in Canada.
